Eugénie

Farnborough Abbey

In 2004 we went out to St Michaels Abbey in Farnborough, well at least the surrounding grounds, to have a wander around late at night in the hope of finding the lost wandering soul of a long gone Monk from the Abbey. There was a funny moment where I was talking to the camera about how Empress Caroline would have probably walked from her house at Farnborough Hill to the Crypt of the Abbey along the path where we were standing when a nearby pipe let out an almighty whoosh and we both ran like maniacs in the dark. I have it on video somewhere and I’ll upload it, it really was quite loud.

The point of this story though is the following day I was awoken by a voice just saying “Eugénie…Eugénie. Her name was Eugénie” I was half asleep and I asked “who is this?” and they said a name which I think was Dominic Augustus. I did a Google and low and behold the Empress was called Eugénie! I don’t know where I got the name Caroline from but I honestly thought that was her name. So someone was setting me straight.
